A suicidal, long time friend since childhood with nowhere to stay moved into my bedroom for a couple weeks. I had a job cleaning a church and the building and pianos there provided sanctuary and were my only safe haven from the darkness. It was a tough assignment. He eventually tried to jump off a bridge into an icy river. I held him in a bear hug until someone was able to call the police. But he lived. And he continues to be well to this day.

Minnesota native John Snell (the Tenth) started writing music when he was just fifteen, but his musical admiration was apparent at an even earlier age. John's mother can attest to him dancing to the hum of the vacuum cleaner while he was still in cloth diapers.
