about

I wrote this for my Grandmother "Nana" during and after her last week in human form and I sang it at her funeral. I recorded it leading up to her 100th Birthday last year. Today, on the 101st anniversary of her birth, I signed up for bandcamp!

lyrics

For Helen Coffin--2005

She hasn't spoken once since Tuesday
And her hands and feet are getting cold.
She's my lovingly Mrs. Coffin Grandma
After tomorrow she'll no longer be old.

I met my sunny Grandma in the summer
She was wearing shades.
She met me the day I was born "The finger in the light socket" boy.

Chorus:
Mother, Helen, Cousin and Nana too.
A bright or a sad day, we knew we could talk to you.

She loved her Scottish Cairn Terrier, and everything else Scottish too.
She loved the Minnesota Vikings, and, well, everything else PURPLE too.

I see my sunny Grandma in a lawn chair and wearing shades.
Paper-back book in hand salting watermelon by the lake.

Mother, Helen, Cousin and Nana too.
A bright or a sad day, we knew we could talk to you.
